RARE VINTAGE 1800'S CHILD'S / WOMEN'S BLOOD STAINED CIVIL WAR ERA HOODED CAPE S
Item #: 1000208 Click on image to see more pictures! Here is an unusual find, this is from the late civil war era of the 1800's, maybe just after the end of the Civil War. The person I acquired it from claims this to be accurate. It is a very soft cotton cape with satin stitched scalloped edges and pretty satin embroidery, a drawstring hood, and some very odd stains of unknown origin, I have photographed them, you be the judge, but I can say that it's safe to say it's blood. Anyway, it is an interesting collector garment nonetheless, in wonderful shape for the age, there are a few separations in the fabric that have caused the beginnings of holes, but nothing major. It seems to be something that was warm, layered in fact, probably owned by a small child or petite woman from a middle class family. I am told that it was found with a blanket, but I unfortunately do not have that. When spread out flat the cape is 54 x 34 including the hood, just an amazing item that I doubt I will ever be lucky enough to come across again! Measurement Questions? Price: 499.00 |
